Sol: Given polynomial y2 + 3/2√5y - 5 Here 5 x 1 = 5. So that middle term can't be split, we can't factorise this polynomial. a = 1 b = 3/2√5 c = - 5. y = [- b ± √b2 - 4ac ] / 2a. y = [- 3/2√5 ± √ (9 / 20 + 20) ] / 2 y = [- 3 / 2√5 ± √409 / 2√5 ) ] / 2. y = [ - 3 ± √409] / 4√5. If α,β are zeros of the polynomial α + β = - 3 / 2√5 , αβ = - 5.
