Find the zeros of the quadratic polynomial p(x) = x2 -2x -8 and hence find the sum and

product of its zeros​

To find zeores let us equate this with zero

x²-2x-8 = 0

x²-4x+2x-8 = 0

x(x-4)+2(x-4) = 0

(x-4)×(x+2) = 0

Now,

x-4 = 0 or x+2 = 0

x = 4 or x = -2

Therefore roots of the polynomial x²-2x-8 are 4 and -2.

Sum of roots = 4+(-2)

= 2

Product of roots = 4×(-2)

= -8
