Find thevalue of xand yx+y=14and x-y=4

Here ,

x + y = 14 ______(1)

x - y = 4 ______(2)

now take a sum of equation (1) and (2)

[ (x + y) + (x - y) ] = [ 14 + 4 ]

[ x + y + x - y ] = [ 18 ]

[ 2x ] = 18

x = 9

now putting the value of "x = 9" in equation (1)

we get,

[ (9) + y ] = 14

9 + y = 14

y = 14 - 9

y = 5
