let the three consecutive even numbers are

x+2 , x +4 , x +6

given sum = 40

(x+2)+(x+6) = 40

2x+ 8= 40

2x = 40 - 8

x = 32/2

x = 16.

x+2 = 16 +2 = 18

x + 4 = 16 + 4 = 20

x + 6 = 16 + 6 = 22

hence three consecutive even numbers are 18, 20 , 22
