given linear equation
5x-8y=9-----(1)

i) put y= -1/2
5x - 8(-1/2) =9
5x+4=9
5x=9-4
5x=5
x=5/5
x=1
∴(x,y) = (1, -1/2)
ii) if x= -1
5(-1)-8y =9
-5-8y =9
-8y =9+5
-8y=14
y= 14/(-8)
y= - 7/4
solution = (x,y ) = (-1, -7/4)
iii) if x= -2

5(-2) -8y=9
-10 -8y =9
⇒-8y= 9+10
⇒-8y =19
y= 19/(-8)

(x,y) = (-2, -19/8)
three solutions are
(1/ -1/2) , (-1 ,-7/4) and (-2 , -19/8)
