GIVEN:

• 1/9 and 1/10

TO FIND:

• Find the three rational numbers between 1/9 and 1/10

SOLUTION:

We have 1/9 and 1/10 , L.C.M. of 9 and 10 is 90.

To make denominators equal i.e., 90 we multiply numerator and denominator of 1/9 by 10 and that of 1/10 by 9, we get 10/90 and 9/90

To insert three rational numbers, we multiply numerator and denominator of both the fractions by 4

$\rm{\hookrightarrow \dfrac{9}{90} \times \dfrac{4}{4} = \dfrac{36}{360} }$

and,

$\rm{\hookrightarrow \dfrac{10}{90} \times \dfrac{4}{4} = \dfrac{40}{360} }$

The required three rational numbers between 1/9 and 1/10 are:-
