Three rational numbers between \frac{1}{3} \text { and } \frac{1}{5} \text { are } \frac{4}{15}, \frac{3}{10} \text { and } \frac{7}{30}

Given:

The two numbers are \frac{1}{3} \text { and } \frac{1}{5}

To find:

The rational number between two numbers

Solution:

Now, to find the rational number, add the numbers and divide their sum by 2.

(i) First rational number between

\frac{1}{3}, \frac{1}{5}=\frac{1}{3}+\frac{1}{5}=\frac{8}{15}

Divide \frac{8}{15} \text { by } 2 \Rightarrow \frac{8}{15} \times \frac{1}{2}=\frac{8}{30}=\frac{4}{15}

The series becomes, \frac{1}{3}, \frac{4}{15}, \frac{1}{5}

(ii) Second rational number

= \frac{1}{3}+\frac{4}{15}=\frac{9}{15}=\frac{3}{5}

Divide \frac{3}{5} by 2 \Rightarrow \frac{3}{5} \times \frac{1}{2}=\frac{3}{10}

The series becomes, \frac{1}{3}, \frac{3}{10}, \frac{4}{15}, \frac{1}{5}

(iii) Third rational number

=\frac{4}{15}+\frac{1}{5}=\frac{7}{15}

Divide\frac{7}{15} \text { by } 2 \Rightarrow \frac{7}{15} \times \frac{1}{2}=\frac{7}{30}
