Find a common denominator. It’s easier to find the rational number(s) you’re looking for if we have a large denominator, so for the sake of this experiment we’ll use 60 .

Extend the fractions so they have the same common denominator.

12×30=306013×20=2060

Pick any number between the two nominators and use the same denominator - that’s a rational number between 12 and 13 .

Example solutions:

2160,2260=1130,2360 , etc.

If you need more than 9 solutions, just increase the common denominator.

You can also use this with a larger common nominator. For example,

12×10=102013×10=1030

This means that all numbers between 1021 and 1029 (inclusive) are also rational numbers between 12 and 13 .
