Answer:

3/5 = (3 × 2)/(5 × 2) = 6/10, (3 × 3)/(5 × 3) = 9/15 and (3 × 4)/(5 × 4) = 12/20

Hence, 6/10, 9/15 and 12/20 are rational numbers equivalent to the given rational number 3/5.

(ii) 4/(-7) = (4 × 2)/(-7 × 2) = 8/(-14), (4 × 3)/(-7 × 3) = 12/(-21)

And (4 × 4)/(-7 × 4) = 16/(-28)

Hence 8/(-14), 12/(-21) and 16/(-28) are rational numbers equivalent to given rational number 4/(-7).

(iii) (-5)/9 = (-5 × 2)/(9 × 2) = (-10)/18, (-5 × 3)/(9 × 3) = -15/27 and (-5 × 4)/(9 × 4) = (-20)/36

Hence, (-10)/18, (-15)/27 and (-20)/36 are rational numbers equivalent to given rational number (-5)/9.

(iv) 8/(-15) = (8 × 2)/(-15 × 2) = 16/(-30)

(8 × 3)/(-15 × 3) = 24/(-45) and (8 × 4)/(-15 × 4) = 32/(-60)

Hence, 16/(-30), 24/(-45) and 32/(-60) are rational numbers equivalent to given rational number 8/(-15).
