let the number be X

let another number be x-36

sum = X + X -36

6 + 36 = 2x

42 = 2x

X = 42/2

X = 21

x-36 = 21- 36 = -15

-15 and 21 are amswers

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

According to question,

x+y =6 & x-y = 36

x+y = 6

x=6-y

By substituting the value of x in x-y=36

6-y-y=36

-2y=36-6

Y=30/-2

Y=-15

Since

x-y=6

x-(-15)=6

x +15=6

x=6-15

x=-9
