Then according to question,

5x+ 2y = 70 ...........(1)

Now, 4 times the larger no. be 4x and twice of the smaller no. is 2y

Again according to question,

4x - 2y = 38.............(2)

On adding eq. (1) and(2) ,

5x + 2y + 4x -2y = 70 + 38

=> 9x  = 108

=> x = 108/9

=> x = 12

On putting the value of x in eq. (1) we get ,

5(12) + 2y = 70

=> 60 + 2y = 70

=> 2y = 70 - 60

=> 2y = 10

=> y = 10 / 2

=> y = 5

Therefore, the larger no. is 12 and the smaller no. is 5 .   (Ans.)
