Find two numbers such that one of them exceeds The Other by 18 and their sum is 92

Let the two numbers be x and y.
So,
x = y + 18.........1
Now,
X+ y = 92
But since x = y +
Therefore
Y + 18 + y = 92
2y = 74
Y = 37.
And
X = 37 + 18 = 55
Thus the two numbers are 55 & 37.

and the other number exceeds by 18...
so other number is x+18
sum is 92
x+x+18=92
2x+18=92
2x=92-18
2x=74
x=74/2
x=37
other number is 37+18=55
so the 2 numbers are 37 and 55
