Step-by-step explanation:

x + x + 8 =  80

2x + 8 = 80

2x = 80  - 8

2x = 72

x = 72 \div 2

x = 36

If x = 36 then the other number will exceeds x by 8 , so

 x = 36

x + 8 = 36 + 8

x = 44

Therefore , The first number is 36 and the other is 44

PROOF :

36  + 44 = 80
