SOLUTiOn

let the first no. and second no. be x and y then,

◆the sum of twice first and thrice the second no. is 97

=>2x+3y=97_

◆four times the first exceeds six time the second by 14

=>4x-14-6y

=>4x-6y=14_

●From i) & ii) we have:

2x+3y=97

4x-6y=14_

we have:

8x+12y=388

8x-12y=28

16x=416

x=416/16

x=104/4

x=26

putting this in eq 1) we have:

3y=97-52

3y=45

y=45/3

y= 15
