2x + y = 21

twice of the second number added to the first number

X+ 2y = 27

solving this we get

4x + 2y = 42

X + 2y = 27

3x = 15

X = 5

substitute on any equation

5 + 2y = 27

y = 11

thus,

5*2 +11 = 21

5+11*2 = 27
