Step-by-step explanation:

Let first no. be x

Let second no. be y

Sum: x+y=17

: x=17-y

Product: x.y=-60

put value of x

(17-y).y=-60

17y-y²=-60

y²-17y+60=0

y²-12y-5y+60=0

y(y-12)-5(y-12)=0

(y-5) (y-12)=0

y-5=0, y=5

y-12=0, y=12

x+y=17

x+5=17 (Choose any value of y ,i take 5)

x=17-5

x=12

Therefore,x=12 y=5
