It is given that, x+y=27.......1

and xy=182.......2

Therefore from 1 put the value of x or y in 2 .and hence u come up with the answer x=13 or 14, and y =13 or 14.

x(27-x) = 182

27x^2 - x^2 = 182

-x^2 + 27x - 182 = 0

x^2 - 27x + 182 = 0

x^2 - 13x -14x + 182 = 0

x(x-13 ) - 14(x-13) = 0

(x-13)(x-14)

SO , The two numbers are 13 & 14...
