Put x=0 ,
we get 2y=12
y=6.
therefore {0,6} is a solution.
Put y=0 , we get
3x=12
x=4 therefore {4,0} is a solution.

ugranarasimha: why should we take starting x=0
Wimpybrain: Because it makes the question easier to solve
ugranarasimha: how you know that only take x=0
Wimpybrain: We can take any values but I took x=0 so that it makes the equation in two variables into a simple linear equation in one variable.
ugranarasimha: ok
ugranarasimha: thanks
Wimpybrain: You are welcome.
