Let the numbers be a,b ( a > b)

a+b= 9.9 …………{1}

a/b =1.2

a= 1.2 b

substitute value of a in {1}

1.2b + b =9.9

2.2 b = 9.9

b = 9/2 = 4.5

now find value of a

a+b=9.9

a=9.9-4.5

a= 5.4

The biggest number is 5.4

smallest number is 4.5

hope helped!

Let the numbers be x and y

Acc. To question..

The sum of x and y is equal to 9.9 i.e., x+y=9.9
And this is Equation No. 1

And Again.. ATQ.

If the greater is divided by smaller the result is 1.2 i.e., x÷y=1.2 or x/y = 1.2 or x=1.2y or x-1.2y =0

And that is Equation number 2..

Elimination of x gives..

x+y=9.9
-(x-1.2y=0)

2.2y = 9.9

y = 9.9/2.2

y = 4.5...

Now Substituting y In Equation No. 1

x+4.5= 9.9
x=9.9-4.5
x = 5.4

Verification..

Substitution of both x and y in Eq. 1..
5.4+4.5=9.9..

Hope it helps ya :)
