suppose a = 1/3 and b = 2/3

= 1/2 (1/3 ₊ 2/3)

= 1/2 (3/3)

= 3/6 ........(1)

Rational number between 3/6 and 2/3

here a = 3/6 and b = 2/3

= 1/2 (3/6 ₊ 2/3)

= 1/2 (3₊4/6)

= 1/2 (7/6)

= 7/12 ......(2)

hence we get the two rational numbers betwen 1/3 and 2/3 as 3/6 and 7/12.
