QUESTION:

Find 2 rational numbers between 3 and 4.

SOLUTION:

Let x = 3 , y = 4 and n = 2

 \sf \: let \: d = \frac{(y - x)}{(n + 1)} = \frac{(4 - 3)}{(2 + 1)} = \frac{1}{3} \\

So, the 2 rational numbers between 3 and 4 are:

 \sf \: (x + d) and \: (x + 2d)\\

 \sf \: (3 + \frac{1}{3} ) \: and \: (3 + \frac{2}{3}) \\

 \sf \: 3 \frac{1}{3} and \: 3 \frac{2}{3} \\

 \sf \: \frac{10}{3} and \: \frac{11}{3} \\
