\bf \green{(5 + 0.1)(5 + 0.2) =  26.52} \\

Given:

  • 5.1 \times 5.2 \\

To find:

  • Find the solution using Identity.

Solution:

Identity to be used:

\bf (x + a)(x + b) =  {x}^{2}  + (a + b)x + ab \\

Step 1:

Rewrite the terms of given digits.

As we can write

5 .1 = 5 + 0.1 \\

and

5.2 = 5 + 0.2 \\

So,

5.1 \times 5.2 = (5 + 0.1)(5.02) \\

Step 2:

Apply identity.

As on comparison with identity it is clear that

x = 5 \\

a = 0.1 \\

and

b = 0.2 \\

Apply identity;

(5 + 0.1)(5 + 0.2) =  {(5)}^{2}  + (0.1 + 0.2)5 + (0.1)(0.2) \\

or

(5 + 0.1)(5 + 0.2) =  25+ (0.3)5  + 0.02 \\

or

(5 + 0.1)(5 + 0.2) =  25+ 1.5 + 0.02 \\

or

(5 + 0.1)(5 + 0.2) =  26.52 \\

Thus,

\bf (5 + 0.1)(5 + 0.2) =  26.52 \\
