Answer :-

x = 2

y = -4

Given:-

{2x - y = 8}\\ {3x + y = 2}

To find :-

The value of x.

Solution :-

By using elimination method,

 {2x - y = 8}eq.1\\{3x + y = 2}eq.2

Multiply equation 1. and 2.by 2

  {[2x-y= 8 ]} × 2\\{[3x + y = 2 ]} ×2

  {4x - 2y = 16 }\\{6x +2y = 4 }

Now add equation 1. and 2.

 { 4x + 6x -2y +2y = 16 +4}

{10x = 20 }

 x = \dfrac {20}{10}

 x = 2

Now put the value of x in eq. 1

 2 × 2 -y = 8

 4 -y = 8

 4 - 8 = y

 y = -4
