x = 2

y = -4

Given:-

${2x - y = 8}\\ {3x + y = 2}$

To find :-

The value of x.

Solution :-

By using elimination method,

${2x - y = 8}eq.1\\{3x + y = 2}eq.2$

Multiply equation 1. and 2.by 2

${[2x-y= 8 ]} × 2\\{[3x + y = 2 ]} ×2$

${4x - 2y = 16 }\\{6x +2y = 4 }$

Now add equation 1. and 2.

${ 4x + 6x -2y +2y = 16 +4}$

${10x = 20 }$

$x = \dfrac {20}{10}$

$x = 2$

Now put the value of x in eq. 1

$2 × 2 -y = 8$

$4 -y = 8$

$4 - 8 = y$

$y = -4$
