5x+12y=36

2x+6y=24

x+3y=12( common number 2 is taken outside)

x=12-3y

substituting value of x in 1st equation

5x-12y=36

5(12-3y)-12y=36

60-15y-12y=36

60-27y=36

-27y=36-60

-27y= -24

y= -24/-27

y= 8/9

x= 12-3y

x=12-3(8/9)

x=12-8/3

x=(36-8)/3

x= 28/3
