\large\bold{\underline{\underline{Solution:-}}}

We know that,

Sum of angles on a straight line = 180°

:⟼  x + (x + 40°) = 180°

:⟼  x + x = 180° - 40°

:⟼  2x = 140°

:⟼  x =  \frac{140°}{2}  \\

:⟼  x = 70°

Therefore, the value of x is \boxed{ 70°   }.

Answer:

ln a straight line is always 180°

so x+ x+40°=180

2x=180°-40°

2x=140°

x=140°/2

x=70
