Answer :

Question :–

Find the Final Velocity of the body if Initial Velocity of the body is 10 m/s , the Acceleration produced is (-10) m/s² and the time taken is 1 second.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

To Find :–

The Final Velocity of the body.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Given :–

  • Initial Velocity = 10 m/s

  • Accelaration = -10 m/s²

  • Time Taken = 1 s

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We know :-

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀First Equation of Motion :

\boxed{\underline{\bf{v = u + at}}}

Where :-

  • v = Final Velocity

  • u = Initial Velocity

  • a = Acceleration Produced

  • t = Time Taken

Concept :-

  • The Acceleration Produced is negative when the object is declarating or retarding.

⠀⠀⠀This is termed as Retardation.

  • In Retardation , the Final Velocity is lesser than the initial velocity of the object.

  • The final Velocity of the body will be 0 , if the body has come to rest.

Solution :-

Given :-

  • u = 10 m/s

  • a = - 10 m/s

  • t = 1 s

Let the final Velocity be v m/s.

Using the First Equation of Motion and substituting the values in it, we get :-

:\implies \bf{v = u + at} \\ \\ \\ :\implies \bf{v = 10 + (-10) \times 1} \\ \\ \\ :\implies \bf{v = 10 + (-10)} \\ \\ \\ :\implies \bf{v = 10 -10} \\ \\ \\ :\implies \bf{v = 0} \\ \\ \\ \therefore \purple{\bf{v = 0 ms^{-1}}}

Hence, the final Velocity of the object is 0 m/s.
