find x and y if x-2y=5 , 2x+3y=8​

x-2y=5 ----------------(1)

2x+3y=8 -----------------(2)

Multiplying eqn (1) by 2 ,we get

2x-4y=10

2x+3y=8

y=-2/7

putting this in eqn (1),we get

x-2(-2/7)=5

x+4/7=5

x=5-4/7=31/7
