we can answer this if only this triangle is a isosceles triangle

now we know that an isosceles triangle has

1)two equal sides

2)two equal angles

so we can say that probably x=y

so first step is 180-40=140

right??

i did this as we know sum of angles is 180 and 180-40 would give is x+y's value

next step

x+y=140

in isosceles triangle is x and y should be the same value they should be divided and placed by two

so next step is to divide right??

so,

140/2=70

so x and y is equal  to 70
