Step-by-step explanation:

Solution :-

From the given triangle ,

120° is the exterior angle

50° and x° are the opposite interior angles

We know that

The exterior angle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles

=> 50°+x° = 120°

=> x° = 120°-50°

=> x° = 70°

and 120° and y ° are linear pair

We know that

The sum of two adjacent angles is 180° called a linear pair

=>y°+120° = 180°

=> y° = 180°-120°

=> y° = 60°

or

In a triangle the sum of all the three angles is 180°

=> x°+50°+y° = 180°

=> 70°+50°+y° = 180°

=> 120°+y° = 180°

=> y° = 180°-120°

=> y° = 60°

Answer:-

The value of x ° = 70°

The value of y° = 60°

Used formulae:-

  • The exterior angle is equal to the sum of the opposite interior angles.
  • In a triangle the sum of all the three angles is 180°.
  • The sum of two adjacent angles is 180° called a linear pair.
