angle abc= angle acute

40+angle abc+angle acb=180(angle sum property)

40+2(angle abc)=180

2(angle abc)=180-40

2(angle abc)=140

angle abc and angle acb= 140÷2=70

x=180- angle abc(linear pair)

x=180-70

x=110°

similarly y is also equal to 110°
