y^2 - 6y + 8 = 0. (Middle term factorisation)

y(y-2) -4(y-2) = 0

(y-4)(y-2) = 0

Therefore y=4 or 2

If y = 4:

x + 4 = 6

x = 2

If y = 2:

x + 2 = 6

x = 4
