∠ABC = 40° and ∠BCA = 85°

Find x and y

Answer:-

AB || DF

∠ABC = ∠CDE = 40° (Alternate interior angles)

BD || FG

∠CDE = EFG = 40° = y (Alternate interior angles)

∠BCA = ∠DCE = 85° (Vertically opposite angles)

∠DCE + ∠CDE + ∠CED = 180° (Total angle in a triangle is 180°)

=> 85° + 40° + ∠CED = 180°

=> ∠CED = 55°

∠CED = ∠FEG = 55° (Vertically opposite angles)

∠FEG + y = x (Exterior angle property)

=> 55° + 40° = x

=> 95° = x

Ans. x = 95°

y = 40°
