${2}^{2x + 1} = {4}^{2x - 1}$
${2}^{2x + 1} = {2}^{(2)(2x - 1)}$
Since, the bases are same, powers can be compared.

$2x + 1 = (2)(2x - 1)$
$2x + 1 = 4x - 2$

By transposing -2 to LHS and 2x to RHS

$2 + 1 = 4x - 2x$
$3 = 2x$
$\frac{3}{2} = x$
