Given:

Terms are in proportion.

To Find:

Find x if the terms are in proportion

(i) x : 5 :: 10 : 25

(ii) x : 7:: 30 : 35

Solution:

We all know that if a, b, c, and  are in proportion then,

\frac{a}{b} =\frac{c}{d}

(i) x : 5 :: 10 : 25

or, \frac{x}{5} =\frac{10}{25}

or, x=5*\frac{10}{25}

or, x=2

The value of x is 2.

(ii) x : 7:: 30 : 35

or, \frac{x}{7} =\frac{30}{35}

or, x=7*\frac{30}{35}

or, x=6

The value of x is 6.
