draw normal of upper mirror

( a normal is a perpendicular line on mirror where incident ray falls on the mirror)

angle of incidence = angle of reflection

angle of incidence = 90 - 40 = 50°

angle of reflection = 50°

x = angle of. reflection (alternate interior angle becuase both normals are parallel to each other with the assumption that mirrors are parallel to each other (should have been given in question))

x = 50°
