Answer:

Pythagoras theorem:-

a^2+b^2 = c^2

(x)^2 + (8)^2 = (17) ^2

(x) ^2 + (64) = (289)

(x) ^2 = 289 - 64

(x) = √225

(x) = 15.

since it is a right angel triangle

so we can apply pythagora's therem over here

A^2 + B^2 = C^2

a = side of right triangle (X)

b = side of right triangle (8ft)

c = hypotenus (17ft)

x^2 + 8^2 = 17^2

x^2 + 64 = 289

x^2 = 289 - 64

x^2 = 225

then: 225 is the square root of 15

we can remove the square of X by dropping under root on 225

x = √225

x= 15
