 =  |y - x| \\  =  | \frac{1}{5}  - 9| \\  =  |   \frac{ - 44}{5} |  \\  =  \frac{44}{5} is \: the \: answer

Answer: 44/5

Step-by-step explanation:

x= 9

y= \frac{1}{5}

x-y

= 9- \frac{1}{5}

=\frac{9}{1} - \frac{1}{5} (we have to keep a value under nine just as a denominator just for the calculation we're doing)

so, \frac{9*5 - 1*1}{1*5} (here, * means to multiply)

 = \frac{45-1}{5} = \frac{44}{5}\\

next,   y-x

         \frac{1}{5} - 9\\

      = \frac{1}{5} - \frac{9}{1}

      = \frac{5*9 - 1*1}{5*1}

      =\frac{45-1}{5} = \frac{44}{5}

So for both equations, 44/5 is the answer

Hope this helps!!!!
