So,

Put this value in equation (2)

◆x-y=1

x-y=1---------------eq(ii)

by substituting method,,
from eq(i) we get

x=5-y
so by putting the value of x in eq (ii) we get,
5-y-y=1
5+2y=1
2y=1-5
y= -4/2
y=-2
