 {x}^{2} + 6 {y}^{2} = 5xy

divide \: the \: equation \: by \: xy

 \frac{x}{y} + 6( \frac{y}{x}) = 5

 \frac{x}{y} = 5 - 6( \frac{y}{x})

 \frac{x}{y} \times  \frac{x}{y} = 5 - 6

 \frac{ {x}^{2} }{ {y}^{2} } =  - 1

put square root to both sides

 \sqrt{ \frac{ {x}^{2} }{ {y}^{2} } } =  \sqrt{ - 1}

 \frac{x}{y} =  - 1
