x+y=5/2-3/4=7/4

x-y=5/2+3/4=13/4

(x+y)/(x-y)=7/4*4/13=7/13

x + y =  \frac{5}{2}  + ( \frac{ - 3}{4} )

 \frac{5}{2 }  -  \frac{3}{4}   = 10 -  \frac{3}{4}  =  \frac{7}{4}

x - y  =  \frac{5}{2}  - ( \frac{ - 3}{4} )

  \frac{5}{2}  +  \frac{3}{4}  = 10 +  \frac{3}{4}  =  \frac{13}{4}

 \frac{x + y}{x - y}  =  \frac{7 \div 4}{13 \div 4}  =  \frac{7}{13}
