Find xy ,when [x+y] = 6 and [x-y] = 4

x+y=6.... (i)

x-y=4....(ii)

Adding equation (i) and equation (ii), we get,

2x=10

or, x=5.

from equation (i)

5+y=6

or, y=1.

Therefore,

x=5

y=1

Therefore, xy=5.
