Given:-

  • Mean of 1.6 , 3.5 , 4.8 , 11 , y is 5;

To find:-

  • Value of y;

Formula to be use:-

  • Mean = Sum of all the terms

Number of all the terms

Solution:-

Mean = Sum of all the terms

Number of all the terms

5 = 1.6 + 3.5 + 4.8 + 11 + y

5

5 = 20.9 + y

5

5 * 5 = 20.9 + y

25 = 20.9 + y

y = 25 - 20.9

y = 4.1

hence, the value of y is 4.1

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

so we have to find the mean

mean=

Mean = (Sum of all the observations/Total number of observations)

so 5= 1.6+3.5+4.8+11+y/5

5=  20.9+y/5

5×5= 20.9y

25= 20.9y

y=25-20.9y

y=4.1

ANS: 4.1 is the mean
