Here is yr answer ___________________________

Let us take a rectangle ABCD

in which AC is a diagonal

AB=35 cm
BC=12 cm
AC=??

By pythagoras therom......

AC² =AB² + BC²

AC² =35² + 12²

AC² =1225 + 144

AC = √1369

AC = 37 cm

Therefore, diagonal of the recatangle = 37 cm

Hope it hlpzz...

\huge\underline\mathfrak\purple{Explanation}

1st method :

Given :

AB = 35 unit

BC = 12 unit

To find

The measure of AC and BD i.e diagonals of rectangle.

Solution :

ABCD is a rectangle.

Therefore, Angle A = Angle B = Angle C = Angle D = 90°

In rt ∆ABC ( as Angle B = 90° )

AC² = AB² + BC² ( By Pythagoras theorem )

AC² = 35² + 12²

AC² = 1225 + 144

AC² = 1369

AC = ±√1369

AC = ±37

Since, measure of diagonal can't be negative.

Therefore, AC = 37 unit.

2nd method :

There is a direct formula for finding the diagonal of rectangle.

Diagonal of rectangle = √(L²+b²)

Length (L) = 35 unit

Breadth (B) = 12 unit

Therefore, diagonal = √(35²+12²)

Diagonal = √(1225+144)

Diagonal = √1369

Diagonal = 37 unit. ( required answer )
