given :- 5x² - 8x - 4

by splitting we get,

= 5x² - (2x + 10x) - 4

= 5x² - 2x - 10x - 4

= x(5x - 2) - 2(5x - 2)

= (5x - 2) (x - 2)

now let's find the zeros..

➡ 5x - 2 = 0

➡ 5x = 2

➡ x = 2/5

or

➡ x - 2 = 0

➡ x = 2

hence, the zero of the polynomial is 2/5 or 2.
