4 {x}^{2}  - 4x - 3 = 4 {x}^{2}   + 2x - 6x - 3 = 2x(2x + 1) - 3(2x + 1) = (2x + 1)(2x - 3) = 2x + 1 = 0 \:  \: or2x - 3 = 0 \:  \:  \:  \:  \: and \: x =  -  \frac{1}{2}  \:  \: or \: x =  \frac{3}{2}
