A sculpture is sold for $533 after a discount of 18%.
(i) Calculate the marked price of the sculpture.
(ii) If a 10% discount is given on the marked price of
the sculpture before it is sold at a further discount
of 8%, would the sale price still be $533? Show your
working clearly.​

1) after 18% discount its 533 ....so 533 is the 88% ......so 100% is 533*100/82 = 650

2) two discounts 10 and 8 ....so by successive discoint formula...total discount will be 10+8+ (10*8/100) =18.8%. ....which us clearly more than 18% ...so sale price will be less then 533 or 18.8% of 650
