The first resistor is of 2 ohm and connected in series

The othe two Resistors are also of 2 ohms but are connected in parallel

hence the total resistance will be

=

2ohm resistor in series + 2× 2ohm resistor in parallel

equivalent resistance in parallel =

1/R = 1/ R1 + 1/ R2

1/R = 1/2 + 1/2 ohm

R = 1 ohm

equivalent resistance in series

R = 2ohm

hence the total resistance will be =

2 ohm + 1 ohm = 3 ohm
