Given:

Mass of pumpkin(not carved) is 6.5kg or 6500g.

Mass of pumpkin(carved) is 3.5kg or 3500g.

To find:

Percentage by which the mass have decreased

Solution:

We will solve this problem using simple mathematical operation of finding percentage that is A/B × 100.

Where A is element of which we have to find percentage while B is total quantity multiplied by 100.

Therefore,

3500/6500 × 100

3500/65

53.84%

The percent decrease in the mass of pumpkin is 53.84%.
