Explanation:
When the fire man is holding the hose pipe, the water coming out of it at huge pressure exerting a force on the pipe which is exactly equal to the force at which the water is coming out. To make the pipe stay at a certain place the fire man holds it tightly ,in other words the fire man is applying another force to the pipe to cancel out the opposite force.
The boldened part follows Newton's third law of motion,which states that-
"Every action has it's equal and opposite reaction ".
