first aid for fall in bathroom
Answers
If someone falls do not try to make the person get up immediately. Check if the person is conscious or unconscious. See if the person is injured. Reassure the person. If the person cannot get up call for help or administer first aid if you can. Help the person to find a comfortable position and keep him warm by using a blanket or warm clothing.
If the person is injured wipe the wound with Dettol and apply some antiseptic cream. If the wound is bleeding gently press the area with a sterilized cotton pad. If there is swelling use a cold compress.
Prevention is better than cure. See that there are water resistant mats both inside and outside the bathroom. Install “grab-bars” for both the young and the old. Do not keep the bathroom cluttered.
If any fall happens, first and foremost, don’t get frightened. See whether the child is conscious. Ask the child or any person whether, he or she, could move. If it is so, bring him/her out of the bathroom. Give dry clothes. Check for injury. If it is head-injury and if it is bleeding, take him/her to the doctor at once, by keeping a cold press. Injury in other parts can be taken care at home itself by applying an ointment and asking the fallen person to rest.
